Removing the old paint

So while i'm waiting to get the new brake piston I decided to try something posted to another Rover list. It said removing the paint was easy if you picked up some Stripeeze from Lowes. I found something similar in my garage from another project and tried it. Seems to work pretty well although I may need to run through the process a couple times. The panels are all aluminum and clean up really well.

Antiluce??

Some interesting fasteners on the Rover. I'll post some as I get pics of them. This one is called an Antiluce and holds up the back tailgate.

Bleeding the brakes

Bled the brakes yesterday hoping I could take it for a quick spin around the block. Started on the left front and it wouldn't bleed.. I thought maybe something up stream was bad so I started from the master cylinder and went forward. Everything was great up to the bleeding nipple. the ball underneath it was fused to the cylinder. A new one is on its way.

After diving today I had to try to get the Rover going. I realized the Schucks sold me the battery but they didn't have a charge on it.... so I jumped it from my pilot. Got the motor turning over right away but it wouldn't fire. Pulled the plugs and they were pretty damaged so I ran down and got some new ones. OH Note.. another awesome feature.. The hood was causing me issues when changing the plugs and working on the engine.. so the Rover has pins on the hood that allow you to pull it to the drivers side and remove it ... Put the plugs in and sprayed the carb with gas and it fired right up only to die when the fuel ran out. .. now I took a look at the fuel pump thinking that maybe it wasn't working and notice its the old style glass bowl I took that out and empied it ..there wasn't any water in it only a bit a old garp but it was on the bottom so no issues. I then started looking around and realized that glass bowl wasn't filling so I started looking around and realized that under the drivers seat there is a valve that swaps between off and the multiple tanks ( I think I only have the one but I have to look) After playing with it for a while I figured out which way to turn it for the tank I do have and fired the engine up.. runs nice. its much quieter than I figured. I have the battery on the charger tonight and tomorrow its time to bleed the brakes. Dave why didn't you buy that cool bleeder... ;)
Awesome I thought Arne was just messing with me when he said the top was aluminum but it really is. The rover also has all these amazing pieces..I'll grab pics of them tomorrow. Anyway I got it .... Couldn't have done it without Arne and Dave. We couldn't get it running or even to turn over when we went to get it so we had to do a bunch of pushing and pull it up on the trailer with a come-a-long unloading was even more interesting.
